USA Vs England

Postby Craig. » Sat May 28, 2005 4:00 pm

well it was a great game with England winning 2-1. The awful surface of soldier field has taken out some of our players but oh well. Local boy west broms Richardson with two great goals. I do feel the US should have at least tied as they were the better side the majority of the game, but its also sort of embarressing as it was essentially Englands 3 string players, but still they outclassed the US when they chose to go for it. Its always nice to see these two teams go at it, as its always a good clean game.

Richardson didn't look bad at all...

I hadn't realised that the USA were 10th in the FIFA World rankings though!

they are only at 10 because they play alot of games around the American continents. They have had alot of easy games and their qualifying division is among the easiest for a team of their class. When you tie in that and they dont have as many players under as long and tough a schedule as the England players its not surprising. Although they are a good team dont get me wrong, but to be ahead of Germany is misleading.

Yeah, we've always had problems with soccer.  It's like, we'll whoop your ass in every other sport but when it comes to kicking a ball, something just doesn't jive.

Well, we can always confuse them with the rules .... err I mean laws.  :D

Cricket - As explained to a foreigner

You have two sides, one out in the field and one in. Each man that's in the side that's in goes out, and when he's out he comes in and the next man goes in until he's out. When they are all out, the side that's out comes in and the side that's been in goes out and tries to get those coming in, out. Sometimes you get men still in and not out.

When a man goes out to go in, the men who are out try to get him out, and when he is out he goes in and the next man in goes out and goes in. There are two men called umpires who stay out all the time and they decide when the men who are in are out. When both sides have been in and all the men have been out, and both sides have been out twice after all the men have been in, including those who are not out, that is the end of the game.

I knew somebody would say that.  Cricket doesn't count ;D

And yes, we do have a good team, they just keep losing matches is all.  Sorta a rut I guess.

Doug, that is by far the most lucid and understandable explanation of cricket I've ever heard.  Says a lot, doesn't it.
