Simviation an 'Abuser Site'?

Postby pete » Fri May 27, 2005 4:19 am

It has come to my attention that a guy called Rana Hossain

Has labelled us as a pirate site.

Take a look!
http://softwares.ranainside.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=904

I have contacted Hossain & he emphatically accuses us of leaching files from other sites as well as abusing copyright.

I would ask people who know Simviation & how we operate & respect others to contact Hossain & let him know that Simviation is absolutely NOT a pirate or 'abuser' site to any degree.

It is people like this that have a huge negative influence on our great hobby.

Hossain's email

rana.hossain@ranainside.com

Your help is much appreciated.

I would really like to know why he labeled this site as an "abuser" site probaply because of the premier class membership!!! He doesn't understand, so it seems to me that this site is not payware funded. Even so Premier membership is not needed for dloading at this site and 30 kb/s is a good dload rate compared to a certain other site I know...

The guy really needs to have a deeper look into this site and he shall see the light that is Simviation!!!!

The most laughable part of his rant is the word "profit"... :D

I find it odd that he brings GLSmith into his posting, at my last recollection GJSmith was quite fond of SimV and also has direct links to TheV for some of of the work that he has collaberated on?????
Pete consider a email sent and Ranainside software uninstalled from my computer ;) And let it be known if I have any freeware/payware made by anyone else that feels this way towards SimV then that to will meet the recycle bin!

Just sounds like the guy wants more attention to his site. He feels threatend by Simv's popularity and is trying to benifit from it. I'd say the number of hits you get each day supports simv Pete.

Quite right.

He is almost certainly jealous Pete. I think his so called evidence is the fact there is an optional (NOT ENFORCED) membership fee that restricts download speed. I expect he thinks that as they are freeware and there is mony coming in to speed up downloads you are making profit off freeware designers. If he does he is a jack-idiot, not using his brain to ponder the 1000s of $ you spend on bandwidth. >:(

Can I just remind folk who do write to be very polite, or he'll be convinced we are/(or Pete) is a bunch of angry thieves who are crying because they are red- handed! Also people dig their heels in.

The "Gentleman" also appears to have trouble with his spelling.  If he is going to rant he should have the decency to proof read his work!

Note: out of all the above links, I personally despite the first link: as at-least the others have the decency to keep it quite

The boldness is mine, I feel he may mean despise and quiet..... ::)

BOOOOOOO!  :-/

Invite the guy in, perhaps we could have a little constructive chat about it... If not, a marmalade-strike should be considered...  ;D

Guess there will always be people that don't fully investigate the source of their news... Talk is cheap, proove what you are claiming, is my motto!

I have read several privacy statements and it very coincidental that some of these are exactly similar to another? Are they being run by the same people?

The membership fee is simply because it costs more to have more bandwidth on the server.  Not because of the freeware.

Just sounds like the guy wants more attention to his site. He feels threatend by Simv's popularity and is trying to benifit from it. I'd say the number of hits you get each day supports simv Pete.

If we go to his site a lot and start d/l'ing lots of stuff he will run out of bandwidth and have to put a cap on the d/l speed and charge if people want more. ;)

Supposedly Gary does not support simviation because of its supposed abuse.  ::)

For those of you wanting to send a email be fore warned, he is not a very polite man! LOL!!!
And even though Saitek stated to be polite, don't expect a polite reply from him ;)

It seems that my email has brought out the best in him! I didnt think it was rude but more or less asking how he came to the conclusion to include SimV in his list of abusers, and he stated that he had found two of his files on SimV that were not auhorized to be here. Fair enough point, then the correct thing would be to contact Pete so that he could look into how his file got here, and if need be have them removed.

maybe the best way to show our support to Pete is to refrain from emailing him, and just boycot his software and watch him dig his hole deeper ;) I know that SimV has a bigger show of support than he ever did and word of mouth is more powerfull than anything he will post at his site ;)

Bottom line is even though he called me a "ostrich" his feeble attempt to offend me didnt work, just provides even more justifcation for me to remove anything made by him off my computer, freeware or not that is not the way to explain your side of things ;)
And i'm certain when others who have written him get a reply you'll feel the same as me.

OSTRICH! LMAOROTF ;D
