Magic Moments

Postby Souichiro » Sat May 21, 2005 4:56 am

Hi guys...

I went to some friends yesterday and around 4 in the morning we thought it was time to quit, mind you playing Halo2 intensely wears you out! Anyway When we were on our way to the car we already noticed the sun coming up or at least it was trying to. The sky looked amazing!! When walking through my street (which is a bit of a narrow and old-style street) I was looking up to the sky, a fresh breeze was blowing and the birds were awakening. A smile covered my face. It was just one of THOSE moments. Even thinking back a bout it makes me feel calm and happy. It was just..........

When did you have one of those moments?

Yep, just after the festival Torhout-Werchter quite some years ago... We left saturday morning at 5 pm and got back home the next day, with the sun just rising over the horizon. I don't get to see to many sunrises and this one was very intense...

The first time I worked third-shift. It was the first sunrise I had seen in probably a year, and it was amazing. Now I work first and see it all the time, so now its no big deal.

...the time I finally shovelled the last spade of soil into the pit I had dug for my last two wives behind the shed at the top of my garden...

...At the time the sun was setting in a golden hue in the west while a Nightingale was singing it's song in the tree above my head, the condensation was slowly dripping down my cold glass of Bank's Original brew, and my heart was bursting with happiness....

We go down to Ocean City, Maryland for the last two weeks of summer just about every year.  On the last day that we're there, I'll sneak outside into the open hallway and stay up all night, thinking (school starts in a few days).  I'll be out there for a good 8 hours until the sun rises, and then I'll sleep on the way back.  We're usually soemwhere on the 9th or 10th floor, so the view over the ocean and the small city is great.

I'm a very solitary person if you hadn't picked that up yet, lol.

Probably the last magic moment I had was watching the sunrise from the air on my way back from Las Vegas... I've gotten a little jaded about sunrises, as I see them too often on my way to work, but that was special. :)

The last sunrise I've seen was two days ago. I heard the birds singing and saw the sky turning gold and thought..."oh,f+ck"...and finally went to bed at 5am.

I think we enjoy the sunrise and sunset every day :)

I can stand outside or lean against a tree and watch the river, the trees and the sky forever it seems.

To see a sunrise or sunset when piloting is wonderful and I find myself reciting the Poem "High Flight" by Pilot Officer JG. Magee JR Royal Canadian Air Force.

High Flight
Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth
Of sun-split clouds,

About 5AM, first day of turkey season. Me, another guy, and a shotgun or two. Got out before dawn, sat down and waited. Heard everything wake up, including a huge crow which happened to live on the branch above us--those wings move a humongous amount of air! :o

Cool stuff, them sunrises are...
