...mmm...Thomsonfly are at it again.........after the trouble I had with the flight the other week, one of their aircraft had more of a scary problem than I did...

Probably something similer to American airline companies and the word "west". Southwest, Northwest, Midwest, Americawest, Midwest connect, ect...

Not sure what you mean there Beefy old chap.
Maybe you're thinking of Thomas Cook, probably the oldest established tour company in the world. Thomson is the name of another well-known UK holiday company. The airline presumably takes its name from that.
