RIAT 2005

Postby kingmarktheaviator » Mon May 16, 2005 11:01 am

Just out of interest, who is planning on being at the Royal International Air Tattoo at RAF Fairford this year?  I probably will be going with the Air Cadet Organisation which is going to be tough because we have to help set up for the weekend!  It's going to be pretty cool though, because I'll be there when the planes are all coming in.  If I go I'll be posting some pics here.

I'm gong on Sunday and Monday (departure day). When will you be there the week before the show? Normally all the jets arrive on Wednesday and Thursday making Fairford pretty busy.

Yep. The earliest arrivals are generally on the Monday or Tuesday if the aircrew are attending any of the events, or entering their aircraft in the competition. Most arrive Wednesday and Thursday, with the press day and schools on the Friday. Worked there myself for a few years...

If I can fly in somehow, I might...

Not this year, again. It's the week after Flying Legends (unmissable) and that's the week after Waddington (my local airshow) so I will be well and truly skint by the time RIAT comes around and I can't see Pamela letting me do three weekends in a row. ;)
Come to think of it, RIAT is two weeks after Legends so you never know.

I might also attend the Flying Legends Airshow at Duxford. Only need to find a way to get there. Two weekends in a row to the UK...what the heck.  :D
