Well I am up now!

Good Morning Folks :D

Normally our day does not start here until around 5am as we are early birds...we go to bed around 23:00 after the news.
Well last week we had several callers...they thought that because this was a dead-end road, access to the river and a small airfield this was public or was going to be.
I soon set them straight and informed them this property was not mine but would go to the eldest son when I finished with it.  It has been that way since God was a Christian and will remain so.
My closest neighbours who have property similarly have also been approached as we all border on the river.  We are all approximately 5 miles from the nearest main road being highway or concession.
The average size of the property here is a section or a section and a half.
The better half..."the old girl" has spoken to these folks more than I have....this I did not know...and like me she is adamant in keeping the family tradition.
Well someone has just drove up with a radio blasting away and when they got out of sight we heard what was like fireworks.  This is the second night....I guess that is why I am up.
The police...they are great...but in the wrong area at the wrong time.
Well guys just checking the clock here it is 4:24 and I am going back to bed.

Cheers...Happy Landings...Doug

Who are these people approaching you & your good lady Doug? I think you need to be very careful & get this sorted ASAP. I don't know if you have a law on trespass in Canada but a few warning notices wouldn't do any harm. Something like "Trespassers will be Shot" wouldn't go amiss. They would be meaningless in this country as trespass is not a criminal offence while threatening people with firearms is. ::)

PS. If this happened here it's quite possible that if these trespassers injured themselves on your property they could sue you for damages. That's how ridiculous it's becoming. :-/

I would suggest a gate on your drive way. My dad lives in a wooded area, and before he got the gate we had at least 2 confused people a week pull in thinking it was a park or something.

Goodmorning Doug :)

Well I just got back from the barn and hangar.

Just as I thought....everything is okay.

Our mailbox has a few holes in it that were not there yesterday and so does our neighbours several concessions away.  A concession here is a mile.

It would seem some folks just have nothing better to do than cause some trouble.

Well it is nothing we (neighbours and I) can't handle, all of them that I know are five decades younger than me and in the local militia.  Let me tell you, they must be dedicated as the Armouries is a good hours drive away and then some and that is in good driving conditions.

I live in a province that is larger than most of Europe and controlled by a Provincial Police Force, many are former military as well.  They have several helicopters and when on a training flights or search they sometimes drop in here along with the military choppers on their way to Canadian Forces Base Trenton.  I can usually count on them at least twice a month rain, snow or sunshine.  The Hercules C130s do not land as the field is to soft however I have had them in on a number of occasions during the summer months.

I am getting off track here a little Doug but I can always tell when we will have visitors and I do not mean by the call on the unicom frequency.
The old girl cooks and bakes almost every day, her pies are relished by friends and neighbours.  I will be a hours drive away heading home with the anticipation of a piece of pie, slice of old old old cheese (you don't have to chew it, it will crawl down) and a scoop or ice cream.

When I get home either the dam minister had made a visit or some bloody pilot and crew have dropped in :P and the last piece has been eaten.  It never fails.

Back to the topic, we have enough weapons and ammunition here to hold off most armies, the scarey thing is we are not afraid to use them.  I do have signs posted that say No Trespassing and No Hunting.  The No Hunting means no one can hunt including me on my own property, however by law I can shoot anything that is destroying or a threat to us.  The law does not specify if it is two or four legged, swims, crawls, walks or flys. ;)

I do keep several loaded weapons on hand (it is against the law) but in my opinion an unloaded weapon unless it has a bayonet fixed to it is about as good as tits on a bull.

Well I am off to check the water laying about...have a great day :)

Cheers...Happy Landings....Doug

Sorry to hear about the problems with tresspassers Doug, but to diverse from the subject a little, your place sounds amazing, just the sort of place i'd love to live. Any chance of a few shots of the area coming SimV's way??

Cheers,

TSC.

Someday, I'll have my own little parcel, surrounded by bamboo and "wait-a-minute" bushes, and the signs will say:

Trespassers Will Be Shot
Solicitors and Poachers Will Be Shot and Fed to Dogs
Trophy Hunters Will Be Shot, Stuffed and Mounted

;D

Doug for a small fee I'll lend you my sister, she is against the Geneva Convention but she'll scare 'em so bad the entire diestive system will drop into their socks in terror ;)
Failing that shoot 'em and say you were rabbit hunting and they caught NDs whilst trespassing ;D
