Female cartoon characters...

Postby Wing Nut » Sat Apr 23, 2005 4:03 am

Has anyone been following Opus in the comics the last couple of weeks?  He made mention that there are no female animal cartoon lead characters, and I have to admit I can't think of any.  Can you?

Here's the rules:

Must be an animal.

Must be a lead (adjunct girlfriends don't count)  Minnie mouse is basically a female version of Mickey.  Daisy is a female Donald, etc...

Must be from a popular strip

I warn you now, once you start thinking about this, it'll drive you batty...

Your right Kevin, I'm now on my way to going batty!
Does Oprah or Rosie ODonald count? they fit the criteria.

I think Moochie the cat from Mutts is female, and of course there's Krazy Kat, but that one goes back a ways. Those are two who aren't just female counterparts to some male character...

Megan from Shermans Lagoon. That strip isnt just about Sherman, its about all of them, and I would consider her to be one of the leads.

You'd better sit your son in front of some Captain Pugwash or his brain might melt if he continues to watch these modern excuses for cartoons. :)

Absolutely right, if I had my way he'd be watching documentaries on the Discovery type channels instead of the trash that's being called 'childrens t.v.' - much more educational & useful than being able to say 'Tinky Winky, Dipsy, Laa Laa & Po' - utter rubbish.

& don't even get me started on 'Ballamory'  :-/

Cheers,
