I use the autopilot for most of my flying in airliners, and for cruise in most planes. I usually hand fly landings just for practice.

I like to use the autopilot in modern airliners alot. But because i like realism, i use the autopilot sparingly in older planes.

Long hauls in passenger jets - autopilot - not the tak-off and landing though.
'real' planes like spits and other props - 100% pure hand! ;D

I suppose it depends on what you fly. I wouldn't know how to switch the darned thing on.

I thought you'd just turn to the co-pilot, and announce to him that "You have control", and swan off down the back for a G&T and a chinwag with the stewardesses...

The Tu-154 has a nice one... you can exactly determine which degree of automation you want
