Well Happy now...

Postby Dan » Sat Apr 02, 2005 2:22 pm

Today's ocupation was shooting at RAF St Athan's with the Air Training Corps. We go to use L98 A1's (A deriviative of the SA80) over a 25 meter outdoor range. This was only the second time I had fired the weapon and now I have my marksman certificate again! This time its the 3 Welsh Wing Marksman tho. I had a squadron marky last year on the Enfield No8 .22 rifle, but not with the '98.
25 Meters, 4 rounds in one inch square and one just out.

L98:

Thanks for reading, I just had to tell someone!  ;D

Not as pretty as an Enfield Mk.IV, but I guess it'll do in a pinch...  :)

One good thing, at least you know which END of the rifle not to stand in front of!

Lol yeah...  ;D They are very nice 'weapons' actually. Just right, not too big and noisy / painful (For the user) but big enough to make you feel that a goodly size round has been dispatched!

Nice one Dan. Was it just prone shooting or did you do the full lot - prone, kneeling, sitting and standing? I ask as the standard of small arms training varies so much across the ATC... :)

Well done,

Charlie

Much as I dread to correct Felix I must make it known that the Enfield MkIII is the desirable model. :P

I'm still a huge fan of the M-16A2.  Most guys hate 'em, but I just always loved firing that weapon.  The USMC range is among the most difficult in the world to qualify on, being a max of 500 yards.  But oh what fun!  lol
Great edit, Bob.

Google it.

You're doing well Dan ....... with a bit of practice you'll be doing that at 300-500 meters, 20 rounds prone/kneeling/sitting/standing.  ;) ;)

Do all of the long stuff on the electronic range nowadays (in my experience anyway)

Probably can't afford the ammo. ;)
