Having seen how seriously some people take their virtual world I'm not in the least surprised. Makes me wonder where it will all end. ::)

Just saw this on collegehumor last night.  It's not worse than the kid that stabbed a buddy over a pokemon card, but still pretty sad. ::) :-/

Some countries actually do recognize virtual properties now...especially where they can earn real money.

Yeah, I've heard of whole companies (would be about 20 employess I think) where they're devoted to creating characters in these massive RPG (MRPG?) games, making them as good as possibly (experience points and the like) and they then sell them online. I've heard of prices like $700 buying one.
