My own website

Postby Ben_M_K » Fri Apr 01, 2005 5:45 pm

Hi, this may be a dumb question but I want to have my own website to host some flight sim stuff. I just don't want to spend any money! Sorry if it's a dumb question...

I thought about it myself. You mean a forum? If so you can ask Eskimo for advice if you wish he made one up recently. :)

Hi Ben...!

Have a look through your own Internet Service Provider's Web Site options... ;)...!
They often have a slot to enable you to create a free Web Site of your own.
I have my own Site provided by my Service Provider, Freeserve... ;)...!

I think there's still a few sites offering free webspace. Not so many as there were a few years ago & they probably have a limit to what you can post. Depends what you want to do. Some sites specialise in hosting images but again they might have a limit on the size. I think one is named Photobucket if you want to have a search round.

Just do a Google on free web hosting. Not too difficult. I had my own site up in an hour. Completed too.

www.freewebs.com
www.tripod.com

Only problem i found with freewebs was you could only have 7 pages on a free account >:(  But they did have a nice 40mb limit.

Tripod is where my newest site is...Unlike my old freewebs one this is completely from scratch and done using Photoshop and the learning of HTML :P  No page limit but only a 20mb limit.  After a hacker awhile back only the galleries are open but you can check it out by clicking the link in my sig ;)

As for starting a forum type...Have no clue as what to tell you...never set one up ::) :P

If they still exist (dont feel like checking - time for bed) they have page builders, so you dont need to know HTML.
