It's a good hospital though with one of the best and busiest A&E's in the country.
All of those that you mentioned are gone now. Gravesend was demolished last year. During late October the boiler room was being pulled apart and the two huge boilers were visible as you walk past. One Thursday morning a little old lady walked on to the site with her tartan shopping trolley and demanded to see the man in charge. She would not be fobbed off and finally the boss arrived and asked her what she wanted. She said, "You are aware that those boilers were clad in Blue Asbestos in 1964?"
"No they aren't" replied the manager.
"I assure you they are," replied the old lady "I was secretary to the manager of works in this hospital between 1954 and 1977 and I signed the requesition."
The manager went pale and a hasty search was started. 2 Hours later the place was crawling with environmental health and the asbestos was removed properly. The crew had no idea it was there. I laughed my head off
