Seen the cover of Newsweek?
If I am correct, isn't Islam the largest religion in the world?

As far as I know, Islam is the fastest-growing religion in the world right now. It relates directly to the rate of population growth in Africa and Southeast Asia. Pretty sure Christianity still holds the lead in number of members worldwide, not that it really matters to me.

According to the searches that I have done ....

Christianity = 2 billion followers.

Islam = 1.3 billion followers.

I wonder how they know that or is it wild guess? As far as I know no records are kept on who is a Christian or not. Not sure about other countries or religions but nobody ever asked me what religion I am & even if they did I wouldn't tell them.

I think with christianity at least, most countries keep fairly good records of births and baptisms etc. As for Islam I haven't got a clue about their record keeping.

Well, I was baptised but I'm not a practicing Christian so that's one less. I wonder how many more there are like me?

LOL Eno. I think we destroyed those statistics between us. ::)
This reminds me, when I was in the ATC you had to put your religion down on various official forms. I always put C of E as it was most convenient. I expect most of my mates did the same. I think they're kidding themselves.

PS. I don't know why but that stupid leaping thing in your avatar makes me giggle every time I see it. ;D

If thats they way they count it, then they are way off. I know plenty of people whos parents are church going christians, but they grew up to be athiests, and agnostics.

Hmmm... I was never confirmed, but I wonder if there's a record of that anywhere. In Catholic Hell, perhaps... ;D
I can only assume that these ststs are based on recorded affirmations of faith- school rosters, that sort of thing. Hard to say, and what does it matter?
