I'm afraid this issue has been lurking since the Papa Tango affair a few years ago. I don't want to go into all the sordid details of that again but it looked a real threat to our hobby at the time. It all got sorted out in the end but once you invent something you can't uninvent it. My opinion of this was to let sleeping dogs lie but unfortunately it now seems to be back on the agenda & published in a widely-read magazine to boot. The next thing we know the whole thing will start up again. We shall just have to wait & see what happens.

As Boeing are the exclusive airliner (modern) manufacturer in MSFS I don't see this being a problem for MS (particularly with there geographic locations).
Personally, it would give a company so much bad press that I don't think it'll be a massive problem...

I would think manufacturers should be pleased that their products are emulated here.

Well the good news is that if other companies follow suit, eventually there will come a company that stands up and says enough is enough...a company that supports sim flight like that will surely make some friends along the way.
