Hello, I know you are NOT allowed to talk about PIRACY but i just wanted to know what everyone thought ouf it...Ie.

Good
Bad
OK

I do NOT want an explanation of why you feel this way just your answer of: Good, Bad, or OK....

I ask this question of since I USED to have a friend (we are not friends no more since he does PIRACY)...won't give his name out...who had a program which is very easy to find on the internet...which I also will NOT give out..anyways I was over his house and he just typed in PMDG 737 into this programs search engine and BAMB about 50-60 responses for all their products came up...I was so shocked

Yep...though you have to go through mondo adds to get to most of the stuff out there...

If anything kills gaming, it won't be sexual or violent content, it will be piracy.

Don't truly care.  Not everyone has money coming out of theur wazoo.  I buy my stuff, and I don't really think it's too serious, as you don't see EA Games goin' out of business, do you?  Despite all the grumbling from the games, music, film industry etc.  Just the rich lookin' after their pennies.

'Couldn't care less.

Now when it comes to small name people, like payware developers, that's a different story...  Although I've never heard of small name developers' content actually being readily available for download.  Then again I only use the big P2P's.  Don't know of any of these "underground" downloaders.

Why do you say that?

We just don't like people promoting piracy ...  we allow talk on almost any matter here - including piracy - which is why MS removed us from their Community sites page. They only list sites that delete any chat on the subject of 'no CD' , etc ....  ;)  Sad but true. Simviation will never be a lapdog like other sites are ......  :D

Music - Okay to a certain extent.

Games - Okay if you only want to look into them (but don't want to play a feature limited demo).

Payware addons - Well, if those were freeware from the beginning on, no one would be upset about them being downloaded illegally.

i am agaisnt small company payware piracy, and entire game piracy. Music piracy is fine, As long as you don't download an entire album and not buy a copy. I'm more likely to buy an album if I know I'm going to like it. Like, I almost boaught the Taproot album because of the song "Poem" I downloaded 3 other songs from that album and hated them, I never got the album.

I find the whole morality of this confusing. Most people seem to think that pirating music is perfectly acceptable while they get their knickers in a twist if someone steals the addons they created & posted as freeware. To me it's quite clear. All forms of piracy, whether this be freeware or payware, is simple stealing. Nothing more, nothing less. I was brought up to pay for the things I wanted. If I couldn't afford it I saved up until I could or went without.

It's a bit different with music. If you buy an album, and you don't like it, your stuck you can't get your money back. If you download a few songs and you like them, buy the album. If you don't like them, delete the songs and nothing lost nothing gaained for both parties.

I agree with this, i know a friend which downloaded off certain websites, but he said he felt too guilty about it and stopped, its not a nice experience, but when you start, you get addicted, so he stopped before anything could happen.

hoped this helped,

Piracy is illegal, immoral, probably fattening and hopefully cancer-causing.

Clear enough?

There is nothing online you need to provide the basics of life, therefore removing any moral values over basic rights.

If you pirate you steal... simple.

Why am I so bitter?

I'd rather be working on a stable, fast and very easy to use Amiga. Trouble is AmigaDos could break any piracy protection scheme available at the time and so nobody would write Amiga versions of their software and the brand died.

Thanks Hagar, We share the same opinion on the matter, now I don't have to say it all over again.

If you are downloading anything that is copywritten without paying any kind of fee, you are stealing, if you think this is okay or cool, you are a loser, if you can't afford to pay for things and feel that makes it okay to steal, get a job.

Piracy is wrong, its theft.
I'm against piracy personally. If you'd done hundreds of hours of work and someone nicked it how would you feel? Same thing!
In Hungary the police can come and inspect your business PC anytime they like, and if so much as one pirated file is on it then you're looking at a really big fine or jail, and that is for each individual file!!! So I don't download (except freeware, which is frequently better than payware anyways) :)
But I do agree that companies are causing a lot of the piracy by being greedy! iTunes proves this, cheap music that you want for a small fee, and they're knocking the pirates flat with this...
Alas some people always want their cake and to eat it ::)

Maybe put this thought in a sort of different context and see how it flies:

If you buy a car and you don't like it... you're stuck.
