...work/college/school...

Fozzer's internet post got me thinking along these lines for some reason.

I travel 35 - 40miles (depending on route) each way to work every day. My drive is the shortest of the 4 people in our office...

Just wondering really...

Charlie :)

I drove or was driven about 35 miles each way to work for 17 years. The company then moved closer which made it about 5 miles each way. This turned out less stressful but actually didn't shorten the time a lot. In the year I was due to retire after 35 years with the same company we moved the whole lot, lock, stock & barrel to a brand new headquarters less than 1 mile from where I'm sitting now. I stayed on an extra month to oversee the move & make sure everything was up & running before waving bye bye. I'd always dreamed of  being able to walk to work but as things turned out I never quite made it. ::)

well about 3.5 miles to work, can be there in less than two minutes if I don't hit either of the two lights on red...:-)

Now to school I've got 46.86 miles to go, approximately...:-) on a good night I can get home in about an hour, with traffic and bad weather it can go to two hours...lol...

Each morning I travel about 10 feet from my upstairs bedroom down to my computer and my music in my downstairs living room each day...!
..apart from my daily visit to Sainsbury's supermarket ome mile away, each day, that's more than enough flippin' travelling for me... ;)... ;D...!

LOL...!

Paul...It's FAB being retired... 8)... ;D...!

One thing that always struck me as strange in all those years I spent travelling to & fro on the A23. There was just as much traffic travelling in the opposite direction to me. I sometimes thought that it would make sense for us all to swap jobs. This would have made our journey shorter & reduced the amount of traffic on the roads.

That was 20 years ago. I dread to think what the  traffic is like now. I was also a lot younger then & I'm not sure I could handle it now.

For one job about 400 yds. For the other two between 1 and 2 miles ;)

Depends, as I'm a field technician. Our office is about 30 miles away in Mt. Vernon, NY, but I rarely go there (good thing, too, because that drive is a pain!). Been working a lot lately at a jobsite in Brooklyn; that's about 1hr. door-to-door by two trains...
As part of my job, I've had to drive to Boston a coupla times, and been flown to such far-flung exotic locales as Indianapolis, IN and Mobile, Alabama.
I would love to work at home...

1 and 1/2 feet to my 'studio' - the new neighbours like it even less than the ones I had in London ;D

1 and 3/4 feet to my computer ;D

Do the math;

I just drove to work and back for 5 days and went no
where else in my truck, we use the car for other trips,
and it shows 99.8 miles on the tripmeter.

First 2.5km by bike, then 25km by bus. Afterwards lets say 400 meters on foot and then I arrive at my school. In the evening, I follow this sequence in the opposite order.  ;)
