To all those who think New Jersey is just that place in between New York and Philly...

New Jersey is a peninsula.

New Jersey has the highest population density in the US - on average1,600 people per sq. mi., which is 13 times the national average.

Highlands, New Jersey, has the highest elevation for a town along the entire eastern seaboard, from Maine to Florida.

New Jersey has the highest percentage urban population in the US with about 90% of the people living in an urban area.

New Jersey is the only state where all its counties are classified as metropolitan areas.

New Jersey has more racehorses than Kentucky.

North Jersey is the car theft capital of the world, with more cars stolen in Newark then any other city. Even the 2 largest cities, NYC and LA put together.

New Jersey has the most dense system of highways and railroads in the US.

And me was born in Atlantic City

Sounds like Liverpool although it might not be as bad as its reputation. I've never been anywhere Liverpool to find out but I've been through Newark several times over the years. Fortunately I didn't hire a car so no risk of having it pinched.

I live in the midwest and we have a on going problem.
Hispanics from New Jersey coming into this area to
steal cars.
We have maybe one or two stolen cars a month, then
12 to 15 in one day. Along with many car tags being
taken as well.
They have caught them several times, but the problem
seems to reappear a few months later.
About half the cars are recovered. They seem to like
small cheap cars. Neons, Cavilers, Sunbirds, Civics,
Corollas, Escorts.

Note; This post is not aimed at anyone or group,
just facts as to what is happening here.

Nope, sorry, still not gonna give you any respect :D

My mom was born and raised in Cherry Hill, talk about a mafia. Anyway, the times I do go there it doesn't seem so bad... I mean, I'm from Philly so we do have to go through Camden but that passes quickly enough ;D

I've heard Newark (where I currently reside) no longer holds the dubious honor of car-theft capitol; can't remember which city "won". Miami, perhaps. When I first moved here about 10yrs. ago it was insane- a high-speed chase under my window every weekend, sometimes two. These kids would steal a car just to get the cops to chase them- a stupid and dangerous rite-of-passage or gang-initiation thing. Once saw a stolen cop car, with one tire gone, screaming down Rte. 21, trailing sparks and followed by just about every vehicle the Newark PD could put on the road. He must have been doing about 85. Unbelievable!  Haven't seen any of that the last coupla years, though.
Here at my place we still get a few car break-ins, though: usually crackheads and other desperadoes who have in the past broken windows to steal:
Less than $1 worth of change
A bag of kitty litter
A jug of antifreeze
Been quiet lately, but we could be due for another spree...

Thanx for posting all the Garden state facts, 767-I often have to defend my home state... a lot of people think there's nothing to it except Hoboken and the Elizabeth Seaport. It's actually some nice country, with all the significant things you mentioned plus a very proud history. I was born in Englewood Cliffs, grew up in Montvale, and have lived in Hoboken and Jersey City as well. Where do you live now?
