O.K. so Boeing renamed the 7e7  the 787. They always use the 7...7 sequence. They're just about out of middle digits. So what numerical sequence do you think will come after the 797? ???

what, they did rename it, i personally think 787 name sounds dumb, that 7e7 sounds like a new generation of airplane. 787 sounds like something they threw together in the drawing board the other day.

so all that hype about what to name the 7e7, calling it dreamliner, was just a waste of time... ???

just because 8 is a lucky chinese number....

I prefered the sound of 7E7 too.  Mainly as it did sound like a fresh brand new idea rather than just a continuation of an existing series.

Maybe they will just start over, i.e. 808, 818, 828.  Anyhow why did it start of as 707 or whatever it did?

Basically what i have said all along.

It will go 808 i would imagine, and they havent always used the 7-7 in their sequence, remember they had the 720.

Boeing has has planes with no seven in the name, however seven was still there.
B-52; 5+2=7
B-29; 9-2=7

They could easily name the next plane the Boeing 542 (5+4-2=7)
