this is good news and a good choice. The EH101 or US101 as the Americans want to call it is an awesome helicoptor which will serve the President well for many years.

I think the 3rd engine in the Merlin was a large part of the decision.

yeah,, i'm just partial to sikorsky since i live near there and know alot of people who work there ;D

From what I read there, I gather that this US101 will be an EH101, but built in america with only a few parts coming from overseas. Correct?

Yeah rotor blades and transmission from europe along with a few other things.

Yes. A couple of months ago there was a bit of controversy after Sikorsky's marketing people tried to play a last ditch card (after it became apparent that the US101 was the preffered contender) by implying that components manufactured by foreign workers (primarily in the UK and Italy) were open to sabotage and terrorism (?!). However, I gather that it will effectively be manufactured in the US under license from Augusta-Westland.
