Yeah, he preceeded Jay Leno on the Tonight Show on NBC

30 years.... appearantly a legend...

I was still in college when he stepped down and Jay Leno took up the mantle...a lot of people thought David Letterman should get the spot (he had been at it a lot longer than Leno).
