SimV get-together at EAA Meuseum

Hey I was wondering if anyone wants to have a get together in the states this year?!! The only place I could go would be the EAA museum, but hey, what better place is there?

I know some of you who live in the midwest so this might work for some of you. Even if just one of you wants to come, I live 20 minutes away so I could go anytime. Summer would be the best, and they have affordable vintage airplane rides. The Tri-Motor is only $35 and it's a pretty long ride.

I really hope one or more of you wants to come as I'd love to meet some of the people that I talk to here all the time!

Just maybe Ben! Whenever I go up to visit my grandparents in Milwaukee, I always, always go up to the EAA museum. I've already been there four times, no end in sight! Next time I'm up there I'll give you a ring (in the form of a PM of course).

I'll let you know if I'm able to get out there (such things cost money...something I don't have a great deal of)...

It was once my ambition to visit the Airventure event at Oshkosh at least once. Almost did it some years ago with the RC model club but I couldn't afford it at the time. I doubt it will happen now but you never know.

I was always put off by the sheer numbers of people that attend this event. I imagine flights & accomodation have to be booked well in advance. It will be even worse now than ever. From what I've seen it's so crowded it would be almost impossible to meet anyone you knew well, let alone a complete stranger. Still, it's a nice thought & it would be nice to meet some of you chaps from across the big puddle. ;)

Okay guys sounds good. Hopefully we can get some people out there this year.

Hagar, I was'nt really talking about meeting during Airventure, just at the museum some time. That would be very hard. But if you spent all that money to come over here you would have to go to Airventure.

Ozzy, that would be the bomb if you came here! :)

I knew that Ben. As you point out, if I come all that way I might as well make it worthwhile. Might be able to fit in a visit to Old Rhinebeck on the way home. It's a nice idea but I doubt it will happen.

Hmmmm OK. I get the message. I know when I'm not wanted. :'( I suspect there's every chance of me getting there long before those two. ;)

It's not my place to interfere but I think it would be a better idea to arrange this on an ordinary day some time during the summer. A flight in that Tri-Motor or one of the other aircraft would put the icing on the cake.
Hours of Operation
Monday-Saturday 8:30am - 5:00pm
Sunday 10:00am - 5:00pm

We are open 7 days a week except New Years Day, Easter Sunday, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.

Pioneer Airport is open on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from the first weekend in May until the second weekend in October. From Memorial Day to Labor Day it is open 7 days a week. Extended opening hours are in effect during the AirVenture fly-in, and at other times by special arrangement.

Or what about this?
Weeks Hangar Open House
Saturday, March 12, 2005
10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Get a rare, behind-the-scenes tour of EAA's aircraft maintenance and restoration center during the Kermit Weeks Hangar Open House on Saturday, March 12 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.. Highlights will include a chance to see EAA's B-17 Flying Fortress Aluminum Overcast being repaired after its unfortunate undercarriage collapse in May 2004, plus a number of other EAA aircraft undergoing their annual winter maintenance.

This is a great opportunity to see a facility that is normally closed to the public, and to learn from staff and volunteers about the fascinating work that goes on in EAA's restoration and maintenance facility.

Oh come on Doug, you could make it! You're getting...err...you know...''up there''. You should do something like this once in you're life. You would'nt regret it.

I had in mind a ride on the Tri-Motor. That would be a heck of a lot of fun. :)

Man I really hope we can get some people out there! Ozzy would be great! :) :) ;D ;D
