Not William. Harry.

I have nothing to say on the subject.

I would go to a fancy dress party dressed up as a werhmacht soldier. Problem was the tabloids got hold of the fact he was wearing a swastika armband and blew it completely out of proporiton.

not a smart costume to start with. . .but it was STILL a COSTUME party.

not smart for a royal to do though, would think someone would have told him that

It just seems like one of those things that got taken too seriously.  If you or I did this, it is unlikely that anyone would have cared.  The problem is that when someone who lives under society's microscope does this, it makes the news.  It just seems like wearing a Nazi costume was a stupid idea, you'd think he would have known what the tabloids would do since he is a member of the royal family.

It was a fun -out-of-public fancy dress.. but:
1) It was ill timed as we are just celebrating the 60th adaversary of the concentration camps being liberated.
There are programs on TV about it at the moment.
2) Even Buckingham Palace was bombed, and the Queen and Prince Philip had to live through it. Get to reality here what's her grand-son think he's doing, this isn't a joke. It's how tends of millions died.

If it had been the normal man then it would have been ok - but his role in society doesn't allow for that. You can't just do as you please and have certain liberties when your a Royal. ::)

I think this was a v.foolish mistake by a young man who hadn't really thought through the implications.
As a young man in uniform many years ago when we first went to W.Germany (gives away my age a bit!) we had a trip to Bergen Belsen. It certainly showed me what we had been fighting for, I feel sorry for the Germans who've had to put up with this sort of nonsense for so many years (always by the British ::)).
I think Harry should go to a concentration camp and see for himself what it was like, talk to survivors and try to learn. Maybe he'd think twice in future before doing something stupid!
Oh and don't forget the royal family are part German, they weren't always called Windsor ;)

Maybe Wundser in Germany? ;D

Honestly spoken, and in spite of my great knowledge about the Third Reich, I don't find anything disturbing about Harry's Wehrmacht dress. But "simple" soldiers (that's what he tried to express) didn't wear a Swastika, as well as soldiers of the Waffen-SS. And the Swastika is just a historical symbol that was misused by bad guys. If the world is so touchy concerning this, they should also reconsider their attitude towards some other flags and insignias, like those of the Crusaders.
Yeah,I know that this is a wide field but this is my opinion.

Lets face it, he isnt the sharpest knife in the drawer. I think its safe to say, we can be thankful he wont ever be King. Well barring any unfortunate events.
