Time at Northpole

Postby z1010 » Thu Jan 13, 2005 2:08 pm

What is the time at the Northpole (Southpole) - where do the time-zones stop (at the Northpole/Southpole)?

Are there appointments made over it?

Suppose I commit a crime exactly at the Northpole - what time does the police note?
Under whose jurisdiction do I fall? Or is it 'no mans land' where I have nothing to fear (from the police).

Maybe a silly question (but I'm wondering for years now over these questions).

Any idea?

I'm sitting here trying to figure out exactly what sort of crime you could commit at the North Pole. Not only that but how far away the nearest police station is. :o ;D

What time is it at the North Pole?
That's what seems to be the most sensible answer.

That's a nice answer, Eno:

it says: "it's any timne you want"

But honoustly, I don't believe it.

And now I'm thinking too about the crime I want to commit   ??? I can't figure it out. What shall I do ....

Hmmm. Assuming you're at the geogaphic North Pole, all the time zones in the world converge there, so the time is whatever's on your wristwatch. I would imagine that when traveling to the North Pole, people use Zulu Time (GMT) if they need to note the time.
But the comment about the police begs another question: under whose legal jurisdiction does that area fall? Seeing as how there's no land, it's probably international waters...
