New name for the 7E7

I almost let this one slip by.....yesterday our local newspaper, the Seattle PI, reported that Boeing was thinking of changing the name of the 7E7 to 787. It has something to do with sales to China and the Chinese belief that 8 is a lucky number.

It might also have something to do that 8 would be the next one in the series (767...777...787).

it does have to do with the chinese, they want an airline there to be the launch customer. as mentioned 8 is a lucky number there. personally i would prefer 7E7, a number designation for a new aircraft

7E7 was a rubbish name anyway.
