Two Snowbirds have crashed south of Moose Jaw this morning.  The state of the pilots is unknown - there's a buzz of action going on right now, search and rescue aircraft zooming around and patrol vehicles everywhere.

I'll keep you guys up to date on this when more is known.  I might throw on my snow gear and see if I can see anything (My house overlooks the base) - I'll keep my radio tuned into the frequencies and see if I can pick any info up.

OMG. This is the 3rd incident in so many days. What's going on?

As always I hope the pilots are OK. Aicraft are only pieces of machinery & can be replaced.

Update:

One pilot is confirmed to have ejected and is safe; the other is yet unknown.

They're doing a press release after lunch.

Indeed. I have often noticed this myself over the years. Not sure if I'm correct but I put most of them down to the weather conditions at this time of year more than anything else. Others are more difficult to explain.

What's weirder is today's crash happened exactly 6 years to the day (Dec 10th, 1998) of the last Snowbirds crash, when Captain Michael VandenBos lost his life, same area too.

Now that is really weird. I guess it's just the poorer weather conditions. Och well.
I'm glad the pilots survived. Phew. The other accidents seemed to have lost everyone .
As Doug has already said, who cares for the nuts & bolts that hold slabs of metal together when it comes to Human Life.

Well, it's confirmed - One pilot ejected and is alive and well, the other did not eject and is confirmed dead.  

Very sad indeed, but at least one survived.

The pilots are safe, Defence Minister Bill Graham said in Ottawa.

Should get in very hot water for saying that to the press. Elementary error. If not stupid.

Another demo team struck by disaster except this time a life was loss.
The thing I hate is that this is what fuels the media into writing stories that scare people about flying, airshows, etc.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the family of the lost pilot  :'(

When you fly with such close tolerances, it only takes a sneeze to create havoc .......damn shame, but thats the reality of the dream to fly with such precision.......

Again, the remainder will carry the torch and the memories will fade with time for the rest of us........keep flying guys, its all appreciated very much........
