Does anyone know if Half-Life 2 was inspired by the movie War of the Worlds? Some of the characters in the game look like something out of this movie.

I only know very little about the book and (original) movie, but I can confirm that the "striders" in HL

Wow the trailers are out already?  They were just in town filming for three days at the beginning of this week.  Left yesterday actually.  lol
