Unfortunately a sign of the times & probably drug-related. I can think of no other motive. This wouldn't have been contemplated by the most hardened criminals only a few years ago. The offenders would soon have been shopped by the criminal fraternity. If it happened in London back in the 60s the Krays would probably have had them kneecapped or worse. Rough justice but they would never do it again.

I doubt the victim or assailant would know what a marble rye is. It was more likely a small bloomer or sliced Hovis.
