Who says this isn't "as close as it gets"

Postby MattNW » Tue Nov 09, 2004 11:15 pm

Just saw the news tonight about the near collision two airliners. Apparently a plane was cleared to take off just as another was on short final. They came within 140 ft of each other before the landing airplane initiated a go around.

Hmmm. Sounds like MSFS ATC. Maybe airlines need to invest in some Microsoft software for their simulators.  ;D ;D ;D

that happens more often than you think, though a majority of these incidents never make it to the general public.
Just some months ago there was a similar thing in Denmark, involving  an SAS aircraft, I believe,  and a Thai 744  :P

Unfortunately, in fs, it happens a lot more often than it does in real life.  AI slow to get off the runway, cessnas landing at LAX... annoying.  One fo the things I've been taught again and again as a cessna pilot is GET OFF THE RUNWAY.  There are guys burning thousands of dollars of jet fuel waiting for your punk ass to move.

We had 2 near misses at Ferihegy (Budapest) last week! Methinks maybe ATC ARE running M$ software ;D
