A question on weight.

 I'm building a model airplane that has tricycle landing gear and the instructions call for the addition of 10 grams of weight in the nose area to keep the model from being a "tailsitter".  My question is how many ounces is equal to 10 grams?

10 grams = 0.353 (avdp) or 0.322 (troy)

If this is a flyable model the amount of weight shown in the instructions can only be a rough estimate. The ballast required will vary according to the type & position of the engine, radio gear & the way you built it, right down to exactly where you position the lead itself. I always try to arrange everything on all my models so the CoG is correct without needing extra weight. You can always add a little extra for the first couple of flights to make it more stable.

 Thanks Saitek, so about 1/3 of an ounce will do.  I'll pick up some fishing weights this afternoon.

 And Hagar, thanks for the info but the aircraft I'm building is a plastic display model of an E-2C Hawkeye AWAC in 1/144 scale.
