Vulcan for sale

Postby ozzy72 » Mon Nov 01, 2004 4:12 am

A man has put his vintage Vulcan bomber up for sale on the internet auction site eBay. Brian Bateson bought the plane in 1983 and placed it at Blackpool airport for visitors to admire.

So who is going to buy this magnificent lawn ornament? Should annoy the neighbours even more than the gnomes ;D

hmmmmmmm, I can only imagine its museums that are bidding, but how in the hell are they going to move it. It hasn't flown for at least 22 years and never willl again and I don't want to think about the size of flatbeds you would need to move it by road  :o

I think they'd dismantle it section by section and crate it for the move ;)

You don't want any motorist's crashing on account of looking at the Vulcan :P

Ay.

Probably the transport will cost as much as the plane itself!

Now, the bids are coming in. I guess this will go for a more than double the current price.

moving it wouldnt cost too much, depending on where its going. If the freight company gets significant coverage in the papers and on local tv/national they will prob even do a price break. Sadly though to move this would be simmilar to concorde to scotland, the wings would have to be removed with a saw,, then rebuilt back to original state, it looks like this needs alot of work anyway
