Hi everyone,
This is just a quick post to say I won't be on the forum for about a week :(. I'm going to Cyprus doing my Duke of Edinburgh's award. We're going on a 48km 3 day hike.
Speak to you all when I get back,
Wish me luck,
Adam.

and it's being awarded to a regular Simviation poster?  Hmmm highly suspicious criteria there ...

Cyprus? The lot from our school went to the Lake District! They got very cold and very wet and are still recovering from their blisters. ;D

Enjoy!

Cool! sounds like fun!

Back when I was a kid....(5-6 grade) we had a scouting program at our church and the older fella who ran it was very educated, ands to my liking... (Flew corsairs off of carriers in WWII)

So anyways in 6th grade before you were done with the scouting program he would take us in the middle of winter and we would drive up north into the snow belt (only about an hour north..) and we would camp in cabins with wood-burning stoves, cook our own food, and everyday we would get up before the sun rose and begin hiking, and we would hike some more... :-)

By after the first day we wondered what we had gotten ourselves into....

the but by the third day we have realized that it was more than just a hike to torture us as we walked across frozen lakes, and climbed up steep hills in nothing but a pair of sneakers...

man to go back and do that again.... ;-)

yeah, sounds about right  ::)

enjoy yourself, it'll hurt but its a laugh. We had a femal cadet take her hair dryer and curling tongs... another committed the ultimate sin of bringing a box ofpot noodles with him (for those that don't know they have the nutritional value of toilet paper :-/)

I can beat that! One of the people from our year who did D of E went on a practice expedition with one pair of socks. No gloves, no hat and THREE penknives. He also took a pot noodle as his emergancy rations!!!
