Man's best friend...

A fitting story for any anti-dogs ppl on here.... ;)
I love reading soppy things like this! :o ;D

A plucky pooch has saved her owner by telephoning an ambulance.

Faith leapt into action when her owner, Ms Beasley, had a seizure and fell out of her wheelchair in the States.

Like something straight out of Lassie, Faith knocked off the receiver, pressed speed dial and barked constantly to let the operator know something was wrong.

An ambulance crew raced over and helped Ms Beasley, who's now feeling better. Faith is a specially-trained dog, but she's still one clever canine!

Click here for the doggie quiz

The emergency operator who answered the call, Jenny Buchanan, said: "I sensed there was a problem. The dog was too persistent in barking directly into the phone receiver. I knew she was trying to tell me something."

Faith, a four-year-old Rottweiler, is trained to look after her owner - she's a bit like a guide dog but with some different skills.

She knows first aid and is trained to move her owner, Ms Beasley, from Washington, into a special position when she has a seizure, to keep her safe.

That's one really special dog.  Ms Beasley obviously lives in Washington, so the dog is trained to move her from Washington in to a special position.  I'm assuming this "special position" is a safe house somewhere in Oregon?  I'm amazed the dog is capable of such a feat!

Okay, for Chris_F an important geography lesson. The original Washington is in the UK, its just south of Newcastle Upon Tyne (northeast near the border with Scotland).... The one in America just takes its name from there, in the same way that Perth in Australia takes its name from Perth in Scotland ;)

Which makes the dog even more special. It takes it's owner across the atlantic to a special position in Oregon. ;D

Lol Mark. It is amazing how many places the US have pinched from us. Places like Oxford and Inverness where I come from can be found in America. It's really ridiculous - there are loads more too such as York, Dallas, London ( :o ), Birmingham, and I could sit here all night typing 'em all up. Why they couldn't think up their own names I don't know! lol I suppose they miss the mother land. ;)

It's odd. The Mayflower set sail from Plymouth and landed in..... Plymouth. Something fishy there me thinks. ;D

Well Ben what you have to remember is that the majority of settlers came from Britain and Ireland and needed a touch of home, hence the names of places they came from as a kind of touch-base thing. One famous exception of course is New York, which was New Amsterdam originally :o
Americans are just Europeans far far away ;) And they have more flavours of ice-cream than us :'( Lucky bunnies! 8)

Have you ever tried naming places? You end up with towns and villages with names like Crabbeville, Greentown, Little Whinning, Greater Whinning, East Whinning, West Whinning, Cardiff etc etc. ;D

There's a Hagarstown somewhere on this planet. Forget where it is now. ;)
