Like a lot of friends, family and pilots I am an early bird, I am out of bed every morning by 5am and shaking the trees to get the birds up .
I try to be in the air by 06:00 with tea in thermos, my routine is usually the same,  buzz a couple of friends farms who are already milking,  follow the Trent River north to the Town of Campbellford (just to make sure it is still there of course ) and a few other hijinks I dare not mention, then home.
I am usually back on Terra Firma by 07:15am and sitting down having breakfast by 07:30am. The old girl has already removed the wires, rollers and what ever else she sticks in her hair to keep the evil spirits away at night and looks almost as good as the old bird.
WELL...last week and this week things have changed...every morning now it is still dark until just after 07:00hrs,  I have to get out a ladder and wipe off all the windows from the morning dew ( what a pain) and the strip (grass) is wet and slippery.  I have actually had the heat on several mornings in the house and the aircraft.  
Last night it was dark here at 18:00hrs...fall came so quickly this year we never noticed it coming.
Well...the routine is the same...just the hours have changed and of course there are fewer daylight hours to accomplish things.
I had not noticed that I had automatically started to make the adjustments to my routines until the old girl mentioned it last night.  I knew I kept her around for something!

It's getting colder cooler here as well...!
The leaves on the trees have changed colour, (not color!), and are now dropping and making a mess of my garden lawn... ...!

The grass is too wet to cut now with my garden mower, so will be six feet high by next Spring resulting in a hands and knees job to cut it all... ...!

The garden birds, (mostly Sparrows, Robins and Tits), are greatful for food scraps and fresh water to be left out to keep them warm and healthy through the Winter.

The old gas fire has to be switched on each evening now to make the place comfy, which will please the Gas Company and seriously deplete my bank account... ...!

Most of our private GA airfield activities are slowing down 'till next year...annual Xmas dinners on the way... ...!

Hopefully, we wont get too much snow again, (weathers are getting milder here).
Keep the old "Gulf Stream" stoked up well... ...!

Goodmorning Paul

Well I was just walking back from the barn, I have a good barn, empty now but we keep it well maintained.  My hangar is a Q hut, round and metal with doors.  I keep doors open until the weather forces me to close them.  This gives the birds access, which brings me back to the purpose of this...just a few minutes ago a flock of ducks just went across the field at about 20 ft, now ducks and geese are really common and as I have water frontage on the Trent River we all share the airspace.  
Imagine taking off in the dim light and them crossing your path...it would have been ducks for Thanksgiving Dinner and not turkey to-day.
This year I only have the C172 here as number one dummy took his tail dragger home to Victoria, British Columbia so the strip will be more work as I have to compact the snow.
I usually have about three C130s buzzing by at tree top, line a stern but all is quiet this morning, they come by about once a week, them college boys must all still be in bed this morning .
A local farmer and friend just left as he did not hear me up defending the country this morning LOL and we were discussing hunting....he asked me to help him white wash a large "C" for Cow on his cattle so those city slicking hunters from Toronto and Montreal don't shoot one as a moose or deer.

Thanks Paul,  and Bjorn you would be bored to death if you were here.
Why by the time I say "Goodmorning" it is "Goodafternoon" LOL
Yup the old C172 is a 1963 with manual flaps, you can drop the speed back on close final and pull up the bar and you have 40 degrees of flap.  
It is great if you want to terrorize ice fishermen or snowmobilers on a lake  ;)(now I wouldn't do that), no wheel pants and no float kit, IFR panel and that is it.
I was hoping to have something to fly on floats this year instead of begging, borrowing and renting to keep my ratings up but that did not happen.  My feet are to dry and I probably need a bath because of not having a float aircraft, that is what I tell the old girl, not sure she believes me or not.

Well folks...here jackets or coats are a requirement here in the early morning hours and towards evening as well.  It actually got to minus 3 this week.
The trees are in full fall colors and hundreds of ducks and geese are on the river filing their flight plans to migrate south.
Traditionally the first light snow falls on Halloween night in this area...so only a couple of weeks to wait and see.
The oohs and aws about the fall colors, the change in temperature of the lakes and rivers, the wildlife and the lack of children playing outside after supper is noticed by many here, however about four times each and every year our life styles, our daily routines change just a bit.
