I live in England, and where i am at Uni (Surrey) i have the home of aviation and car racing for the whole world.  This is Brooklands.  They have all the pieces of the concorde there and with my course (Aerospace Engineering) i heard about people getting signed up to help put the things back together.  Well i got in, i was there yesterday looking at a load of the bits.  I spent the day prepping the engine air-intakes inside and out so that they could re-painted.  We degreased them and rubbed them down with some sandpaper, we then went over the whole thing checking the screws and put the flaps and pieces back on.  I can almost stand up in the air intakes, i have to tilt my head and back a bit, and knees bent a small amount in order to walk around in there.

We are a team of about 10 right now.  It is such an honour to be able to work on rebuilding a concorde.  I feel so lucky to be able to work on such an amazing aircraft.

I feel your envy! ;D

Odd to think that you can almost stand up with head and knee's bent inside the cabin too. ;D

If I can get hold of a digi-cam i might try and get some shots of it.  I am going back up there next Saturday to do some more work on it.  We are fixing her up pretty much as good as new.  We should finish by summer next year, assuming there are no set backs.
