Wales left off map

It's true folks. According to bungling EU bureaucrats Wales officially no longer exists. The map of the UK has been redrawn. This might please Fozzer but I doubt that Dan will be amused. ::)

Eurostat leaves Wales off EU map

Welsh politicians appear to be playing down a bureaucratic blunder that left Wales off a map of Europe on the cover of a prestigious EU reference book.
The Eurostat Statistical Compendium has all the facts and figures on Europe.

All EU member states, and the rest of Britain, are accurately represented on the cover - but Wales has disappeared.

A line has been drawn from Chester to the Severn Estuary - roughly along the border with England - but to the west there is nothing until the Irish coast.

There has been no comment from anyone at the European Commission's office in Cardiff.

No-one is demanding an expensive recall of the publication or even an apology.

And although one MEP did issue an audible expletive when told of the error, a mistake rather than a conspiracy is suspected.

But officials at the Eurostat office in Luxembourg are preparing to explain their mistake.

PS. Watch out Ben. Scotland is next. You mark my words. :o :P ;)

Looks like they've re-enacted the Statue of Wales, 800 or so years after it first appeared ;D

I've never seen a statue of Wales. Did you mean Statute? :P

I quickly cobbled this up to show the latest map according to the EU. Now you see it -

now you don't. ::)

PS. The more observant amongst you might notice that Ireland is also missing. That's not the fault of the EU bunglers. It was already missing from the map of the UK I found. ::)

PPS. Talk about confused in my old age ::). I have no idea why Ozzy moved this from the Cafe. ???

'Cos it belongs in General Doug, and yup I did mean Statute, sorry I'm at work and using a keyboard that frankly feels like its been filled with jam :P I'm having real trouble typing with this one, oh and a lot of the keys don't do what the markings suggest as its been set in the OS to another type, but I don't know Win98 well enough to fix this without wrecking the machine, and the IT Dept. already have it in for me...

I don't want your excuses. I could do better than that when I was in short trousers. :P I know the real reason is that you like confusing old fogies like me. I'm confused enough already without your help thanks all the same. :P ???

I suspect you're in league with the EU Commissioners. They are experts at confusing people. They seem to be pretty confused themselves most of the time except where jollies & their own expense accounts are concerned. ;D

Actually I had a mouthful of apple, even more tricky, which is why I didn't use the word glib, this keyboard is yukky enough already without a half-masticated Granny Smith all over it ;D

Well suits me fine - looks like the RAF will have to find an alternative to RAF Valley for the Hawks - which may save a lot of money on petrol (or is that tax?) in a couple of years...

Nahhhh... I don't like the EU anyway. More tax than services! I'm sure Paul won't let me forget this for a while!

Well Hagar.. there will be riots if they try interfering with Scotland. ::) I can assure you, the Welsh may let it go, but the Scottish would proabably decide to quit the EU, remember we're* still seething about our fish. ::) I'm a eurosceptic and extremely anti-joining Europe.

I don't suppose there are many guys on here that are studying law or have done.... I'm doing it at A-level and I can assure you, you would be astounded at what is really left of our sovereignty.
Most people have little idea, including me until recently, but Britian hasn't joined Europe yet, but there is not a single law we can't enforce anymore if the rest of Europe disagrees. We can't decide who comes into our country, or who goes out if it's against Europe's will. Our pollution, environmental issues, e.g fish quotas, are all decided by others who don't have anything to do with us. To top all that thousands of laws come into force every year and 99% of Britain doesn't even know. :(
Whoops, I'm getting carried away. ::)

Cheers Doug,

Ben :)

* I'm actually English - Just love and live in Scotland. ;)

You're nekkid now?

My choice of clothing is my business. :P ;D

In my day all boys under a certain age wore short trousers (pants to you lot over the puddle). None of this designer stuff that's all the fashion now. Kids aren't kids any more & look like young adults almost from the day they're born. I graduated to long trousers when I was about 12 years old. I can remember feeling all grown up on my first day back at school in my smart grey "longs".

you would be astounded at what is really left of our sovereignty.

I doubt it. You don't need an A Level in law to realise what they're up to. As I said before, us old fogies might be confused but we ain't daft. If I told you what I & most ordinary people think about it I would be banned from this forum. :-X ;)
