Pioneering Astronaut Passes Away

Today, former American astronaut L. Gordon Cooper died.  He was one of the original Mecury 7 astronauts who flew on two missions, the second being Gemini-V (the mission in which many believe the United States took the lead in the space race).  As many of you know, I'm a space flight fanatic-and Gordon Cooper was one of my heroes.

It's a sad thing to happen, but it is also an inevitable part of life.  To paraphrase a certain movie: "You and I are just moving through history; he IS history"

No need to be sad. The guy had an incredible life, knew adventures that few people will ever experience and was a part of the truly golden age of aviation. To cap it all he died peacefully of natural causes.

That's the way to do it!

I respect him for what he did. We should celebrate his achievements, R.I.P. Lt. Gordon Cooper and good on you.
