Postby tongueo » Mon Oct 04, 2004 10:23 am

hey i am wondering about upgrading to fs 2004.  I have been told that if you get a pirate copy u cannot go online and fly. is this true.  Would it be better to get the official copy.

It would be less illegal to get the official copy.

Get an Offical and legal copy of any program you want to get. If you don't not only are you breaking the law but you are in fact stealing someones hard work.

Let's see......

illegal copy...... free.

legal copy....... $30.00.

Copyright infringement fine and jail time........ priceless.

Tongueo, it is official SimV policy that we do not condone or support software piracy in any way.  What you are suggeting is illegal.  It would be theft... no different than going to a local store and stealing stuff.

If you want fs2004.... go buy it.  If you can't currently afford it... try to find a way to earn the money you need.  If all the money you have and can earn needs to go to other things..... then this is not the time you can buy it.

I want to own a Porche.  But I'm not going to go steal one.  I just can't afford to own one.  End of story.

Sorry to sound a bit harsh.... but this stuff is important to everyone who buys software...... and for SimV as a flight sim website.

best,

Yeah, John is correct.  You'll find that SimV is probably the most helpful site on the web for you, so please don't take offense.  But you'll also find that people here are less tolerant of piracy than other sites as well.  Please understand that that attitude comes from the fact that we here are extremely dedicated to our hobby and it is representative of that dedication.  So welcome to SimV, now go out and get a real copy!  ;)

Mods...there shouldn't be a discussion here.

Just lock or delete the thread.

It's easy to just lock a thread and forget about it.  It takes more time to educate someone and to show them that their current ideals may not be as productive as they could be.  If this fellow were sitting here bragging about piracy and steadfastly trying to defend an obviously illegal position, then perhaps we should.  But while the oppurtunity exists to help someone, we should take it.

That's to harsh.

I agree with Kevin, sometimes people just need bringing aside and spoken to.
