DSL question...

Looking at the information I'm given I would take it to mean that having one dynamic IP address I would only be able to have one system on the internet at a given time right?

What I would like to do is be able to have multiple users (2-3) hooked up to the network which is then hooked directly to the dsl modem...

But from the basic knowledge that I have of this kind of setup I'm thinking that if I wanted more than one system I would have to go with their more expensive setup...

You'll have to get a Router in order to connect more than one comp.

The router acts somewhat like a server... it has its own IP on the network and issues seperate IP's to each comp. Every comp essencially shares the same external IP.
External IP 200.143.2.345
Router IP 192.168.1.1
Comp1 IP 192.168.1.100
Comp2 IP 192.168.1.110

This is one of the security benefits of DSL but can also be one of it's main vulnerabilitys... anyone realising its a network can potentially hack into more than one puter.
The router provides a mask to the outside world which stops potential hackers .... however if something is let into the network through carelessness then it can then carry out its mission largely undetected ... much the same as not having a firewall.
