I was just visiting another forum which I frequent (although I'm more dedicated here  ::)) and there was an interesting post.  They were showing this in their "auction's" forum and I couldn't believe it.  Someone actually sold a BOX for a car stereo for over $100!  Of course, he specially says its the box (never mentions it has a CD player in it).  Someone is going to get that thing and be really upset.  I don't know about you, but these kind of things bother me.  Check it out:

One of the guys on the other forum e-mailed the seller and ask if this was correct and never got a response.  Go figure.  >:(

No once you bid it is a binding contract and after all it clearly states on the bid page that it is in fact a box and the contents "printed" on it. the idiot here is the one bidding.
Whenever you hear one mention "read the fine print" this is exactly why!!
Funny thing is "Printed on the BOX" is pretty easy to spot and understand.
I don't see this as a scam at all, the auction is clearly listed as to what is being sold, no false advertising etc. The only person the buyer can be upset with is himself.
Another thing is to notice the ones bidding, most are all Ebay virgins, but there is one with experiance who obviously realized what he was bidding on, the winner however with a feedback rating of 40 is surprising that he didn't catch on, must of really wanted that box.

I'm always very careful/suspicious on ebay.
I would have never got into it myself.
Poor guy. Lets hope he sees it before he pays.

People sell lots of crazy things on that eBay. Wasn't somebody trying to sell their soul on there once? I think the company pulled that one.

So some sleeze actually sells someone a box for $162. Humm.... Just looking through my basement and closets, I just realized I'm sitting on a gold mine.  :D

Well the ad says it's just the box. I guess the old adage proves itself again. A fool and his money are soon parted. Read very carefully.

The best thing I've seen was a box of a 9700pro...sold for 300

I took a look at the ad, and I personally don't see a problem with it.  In fact, I think its rather clever.

The seller was very open and honest about what he was selling, and in fact twice he mentioned it's a box, and then at the bottom he's got the shipping weight as 1 pound.  (Know any stereos so light?)  Then we've got the case of the photo itself.  It's a very clear photograph of a box.  No where does he show a stereo.

And finally, we've got the text from eBay itself:

I think if the seller is stupid enough to just ASSUME there's a stereo inside this twice mentioned box, he's an absolute idiot, and to be honest I'm surprised he's survived this long.

Exactly, absolutly nothing wrong with the add, I'm behind the seller on this one, he shouldn't be banned from Ebay may the buyer but everything the seller did was legal!!
Clearly stated what he was selling.
