Talk About Sitting Around

I just heard this on the news but unfortunately I cannot find a print copy of it.

There was this woman living in Florida. She had called 911 complaining of breathing problems. When fire and paramedics arrived, they found the 600lb woman sitting on the couch. When they tried to lift her, she wouldn't budge. She was actually stuck to the chair!  :o That's not the really gross part. Apparently she has been sitting on this couch for 5 years streight and her skin had actually grafted to the fabric.  :P They had to surgically remove her from the couch. Unfortunately she died in hospital.

I just find this story absolutely mind boggling. I don't like being stuck around the house for more than a few days let alone five years. The strange things some people do.  :-/

Sounds like a pile of BS to me! Five years on the same seat, her skin wouldn't graft, it'd develop chronic bed-sores, and then there is the issue of sitting in your own excrement and urine, and how do you get a drink or something to eat? She'd be dead from toxic shock syndrome a lot sooner than 5 years!
Sounds like another Fox News bit of ace reporting ::) :P :-X

Hi all,
Unfortunately Mark, these things do happen!!! :'(
We lost a family member recently, who, whilst not as bad as the reported person in this thread, did put on weight until he was totally bedridden and could not sit because it blocked his airways. They could not move him.

Been looking for proof in print. If I ever get like that, please put me out of my misery.

I remember seeing a episode of The Montel Williams show (I think) where a man stayed bed ridden for years he was so large that they had too actually tear out the walls to his bed room and use a crane to remove him from the house!
Last I know he is still alive and doing well, but it must be horrible! The real sad thing about thing about this guy is that his own family allowed him to get this way. They would feed him in bed whenever he wanted, cloth him, bath him etc, never made him do things for himself, no intervention at all.
