I thought the hottest part of the day was @ noon because the sun is at its highest point in the day.

ace i believe that 3 to 5 is generally the hottest part mainly because of the evening humidity build up. But i am not 100% sure on that

depends on where you live.

I live on the coast so during the afternoon we usually have a frisk breeze coming from the sea (ground heats up more faster than water as you know)

The windchill factor dampens the heat a little bit. But here I'd say it's the warmest

I forgot why it's hotter here later but I do know that we have longer days here because I live farther north than most other places. This pic was taken around 5:00p.m. Usually we have temps in the 70-75*F range!  :o

I was stationed at NAS Whidbey Island 1980-1983 with Attack Squadron 95 "The Green Lizards" .  I remember wearing a jacket early mornings during the summer.  Hard to imagine 100 plus degrees up there.  I bet the beaches are busy!

lol...we had a hot streak last week monday thru thursday...since then it's been at around 75 degrees here...:-)

Funny when in MI last week they were complaining about the heat, 83* is a scorcher there.
Now back home in TN it is already 78* at 6:15 am.
It took me about a year to adjust to the tempurature changes between MI and TN, and I look forward to the "sizziling temps" of the summer in MI!! I have never found a better place for summer than MI.

 Heat wave in Seattle!!!!  OH NO!!  
 I've been away on vacation in California for the past two weeks and its been above 95*F every day that I've been here!!  Down in the valley where I was fishing yesterday it was 110*F.  I was looking forward to returning to the cool climate of the Great North West!
 Please tell me that there's been some rain in the Seattle area while I've been gone, for the sake of my shrub garden.  If my plants surrvive they sure aren't gonna be very happy with me!

I was in downtown Tokyo about a week and a half ago when they set an all time record for the highest temperature recorded there...... 104.5 F ....... and of course that was with about 100 percent humidity  :P .  And they also set a record for a period with the highest MINIMUM temperatures that week too.

I guess I picked the wrong week to be there  .

This reminds me of the last fierce weather I had when I was back at Sheppard AFB in Northern Texas.

One day, while I was over there for my technical training, the temp had hit up to 100*. The base was forced to put up the Black Flag [black means "TOO FREAKING HOT!"].

Immediately following the black flag, a huge thunderstorm kicked in real fast. And I mean fast as in the entire beautiful blue sky instantly turned darkest-ever grey in 5 minutes.

The NCO's ordered the entire dorm to be put on lock down. Meaning no one leave throughout the entire rest of the day and night [that's how long the storm lasted].

It was raining so hard that when I looked out the window, I can see the rain drops DANCING with the wind and that one of our very-strong trees was rocking so hard that people thought that the branches would fly off.

The next day, it was all over. Thank god the storm past. And thank god that the power was never out through out the whole time because I was so bored in the dorm that I wanted to play SplinterCell:Pandora Tomorrow on my Playstation 2.
