Werid, and I don't know what to do

Ok, I been getting e-mails from my admin telling me that my account has been spamming people. And they tell me that it might be because of the trojan virus, but my computer remains unaffected, and they sent me a file that is suppose to fix everything, but its a .exe file, so that might be a virus.

What should I do???

Jeff......very confused

I've recieved complaints of that from many people, it is not a virus on my computer however but a person who has the ability to 'spoof' my account. This should be a suspect in your case as well as someone who has stolen your password, try changing it.

If there is a possibility that this might be caused by a virus, then run an anti-virus program.  Ever since I got Norton, I haven't had a single virus issue.

I just thought of this, is it possible that someone hacked my account and that idiot contracted the Trojan?

It does not really have to do with a virus at all, hackers can make it appear that they are you without your password or a virus to help them. You'd best suggest that the admin just live with it as there is probably nothing you can do unless there is a virus on your machine, I doubt that could be the case if you have up to date anti virus software.

Like others have said.
Update your virus software and do a full system scan. If that turns up nothing then it is a spoof, your system admin will then have to understand that nothing more can be done by you and if they dont, then this is a hoax on someone elses part or your admin is a complete idiot ::)

DO NOT OPEN THE EMAIL OR RUN THE EXE FILE.

The suspicious thing about this ..... is the EXE file thats been sent from your "Admin" ... It won't be your "Admin" thats sent it. It is almost certainly a trojan or some sort of malicious script.

1. I would suggest calling any helpline number for your ISP and check with them wether they have been sending any emails  regarding your account.(most likely not). If not make them aware of the situation. Give them any information regarding the emails and let them deal with it.
2. I would suggest running an online virus scan as this is more likely to be up to date and will check for trojans etc. I would reccomend Housecall its free and if you sign up to their newsletter you get weekly and monthly emails detailing  the latest nasties out there. I run this once a month along side my  resident  antivirus. On a few occasions it's picked up stuff my onboard  AV has missed even though this is updated and scans daily.

Most importantly .... dont panic ... its probably nothing and if you follow the steps above then you shouldnt have any problems.

cheers
