MS inspired me

Postby beefhole » Tue Jul 20, 2004 9:32 pm

i begin my first lesson august second, 8:30 am sharp, at wings airfield outside of philadelphia.  from the first time when i was 10 and i waddled through microcenter, eyeballed MFS 2000 and said "i have to have this", i have been completely obsessed with flying.  i went up for my discovery flight about 3/4 of the way through my freshman year in highschool (last year). at that point, i was really stressed. and i have never been stressed out before. i mean, never. i got into the air and i forgot everything. i was worried i would be bad at it or flip out, but the guy said im a natural and i believe him. why? cos the instant i got in the air i was carefree, and im a really good stick too. im telling you, flying is a GREAT stress reliever. anyway, i should have my license by the time im 17. after that, i plan on obtaining every license possible on non-jet aircraft, taking an airforce ROTC in college, joining the airforce, and then going commercial. yes, i actually PLAN on becoming a commercial pilot. crazy, huh?  ;) anyone else here begin a flying career as a result of ms?

Not necessarily a career flying, but I do plan on a aviation related career.

Actually I have to say YES to that question. Microsoft indeed has inspired  me to pursue a career in aviation.
I mean I was interested in aircrafts before my PC simming days since my Mom was a pilot, but the same could be said for passenger ferrys. I wanted to be a captain on a boat, can you believe that  ::)
And before that I dreamt of becoming a hockey professional in the NHL - now I'm just stuck at coaching. My true passions in life is Hockey and Aviation - quite a mix eh :)

My interest of aviation grew more intense while I lived in the U.S and flew domestic and International flights every month. Mind you this was pre 9/11 so I got to sit in the cockpit a few times, of course that is enough to inspire anybody :)

Then I got back to Sweden and got my first PC, along with FS98, which I quickly upgraded to FS2000
and after that I'm stuck :)

Can't say that M$ did, I don't quite remember when my passion for flying began, but it was a hell of a long time ago. Probably before the 12-year-old turk was born.................. ::) ::) Microsoft just gave me a practical way to fly..................under briges ;D ;D

Hey Nexus, what type of aircraft was your Mom flying?
One more question if you don't mind, how old are you?

Just wondering  ;D

My mom was a certified IFR multi-engine pilot. Flew Piper's and a King Air.
Though she had to end her aviation studies when she became pregnant with my older brother (thx dad , you moron), and later became a secretary at a company in Sweden
Today she's worked her way up the ladder and handles all the export and the middle eastern market, so she's come along way, and I'm proud of her.
However, I know she miss the good ol' days in the air  :)

I'm 22 btw :)

MS didn't start my obsession for Aviation, I think I was literally born with it. The Flightsim just helped my obsession grow ;D
