what to expect

Postby Craig. » Tue Jul 20, 2004 3:30 pm

Well as is known i have a visa interview tomorrow. I am really nervous as 1: its the first time i have been to London on my own and 2: this is what i have been waiting for, for a long time and i dont wanna screw it up.
So does anyone know what sort of thing they will be expecting from me and will they give me an answer to my request tomorrow or will i have to wait the week for my documents to returned?
I am sure at least one or two people here have gone through something simmilar?

Hehe they locked me up in a dark room and after 34 hours they kindly let me out and I had the opportunity to give my side of the story.  ::)

Oh they got that big lamp shining in your face aswell.  ;D

But Craig what can you screw up?
You're a  student, with a clean sheet (hopefully  ;) ), you certainly have nothing to hide.
Just be straightforward and whatever they throw at you answer right back - black and white

I went to Stockholm to get my Visa, and they were kind to me, did not ask me weird questions at all.
They inquired about my family's health history, if we had any heart diseases stuff like that, don't know why they asked those questions.

So just relax, and enjoy the adventure, that's what I did and I had a great weekend in my nation's capital :)

I got the visa in my mail some days later (10 days I believe???)

Thank you Nexus.
I can guess the health question is to make sure your not going be constantly relying on their medical system, possibly.
Thank you, your comments have helped alot
Did the official tell you on the day what the result would be of your application?

Well Craig.
The lady told me, that "everything looks very good for you and you'll hear from us in a couple of days"

If you read between the lines I guess they tell that they think of the chances of you obtaining a visa.

That was some years ago and I can't recall it vividly anymore.

Is this an interview to get a Visa card. That's odd. Here you just send in an application, if they approve you, you get the card in the mail. It's all done by computers. You can apply online or just fill in an application and hand it to the bank teller.

Silly me. You made it sound like a Visa card. So did everyone else.  :P That's right, your going to school in the States. I thought about that but I didn't want to do the SATs. Know what your taking yet? I'm going into a double major program of History and Political Science. Unfortunately I had to take all these first year courses because they're program requirements. I decided that with my poor math skills, commerce wasn't for me so I switched.
