Excitement at Oulton Park

Postby ozzy72 » Sun Jul 18, 2004 2:34 pm

A helicopter crash-landed at a busy motor racing circuit.
The aircraft came down near to the racetrack at Oulton Park, in Cheshire, shortly after 1.30pm.
A 52-year-old businessman from Chester, who was piloting the Enstrom 280 FX Shark three-seater civilian helicopter, suffered minor injuries.
Thousands of spectators at the circuit for the Formula 3 GT Championships watched as the helicopter plummeted to the ground.
A spokesman for Cheshire Police said nobody on the ground was injured.
He added: "The pilot was travelling from Hawarden airport in north Wales towards Knutsford in Cheshire when he was forced to make an emergency landing at Oulton Park racing circuit.
"The pilot, who has six years flying experience, noticed smoke in the cockpit and made an emergency call to Manchester airport before landing.
"Upon landing he received minor injuries and the helicopter was seriously damaged.
"Emergency services were on the scene quickly and the fire service deployed foam over the helicopter as a precautionary measure."

Knowing the pilot is okay, yay! ;D Sounds like fun!  Lets do it again!  Was there a fireball? :D

Not to sound morbid, but isn't that why anybody watches racing?  The only reason I watch NASCAR, which is the only sport I ever watch, is for the crashes.  Even then, I haven't watched it in awhile.  I have better things to do than watch over-payed "bozos" play games. :P
