Sad... This must have happened hundreds of times in the last 30 or 40 years around the US, UK, and elsewhere. For a year during the 50s I was lucky enough to live a couple of blocks from a "neighborhood" airport similar to this one. There was a lot of interest, I suppose partially due to pilots returning from WWII.
It was a real treat to lie on my back in the front yard and watch Waco cabin bipes do loops right overhead. I think that time was at least part of the golden age of flight. Some decades ago, it became a low-middleclass subdivision
