The bad guys...

After Spybot warned me for about the 50th time that someone wanted to put spyware from 'Avenue A' on my system, I decided to look them up.  It doesn't get much more blatant than this, and that fact that is commercially accepted makes it worse.  These are the guys responsible for all those spyware cookies and spam you get.  They even say so.  Look at this page...

http://www.avenuea.com/services/

Site specific behavioral analysis?
Purchased and House e-mail lists?

Yup, no doubt about it.  These are one of the schmucks responsible for my getting anywhere from 20 to 30 spam messages per day.  Thank God for filters...  ::)

2) Buy one hell of a lot of weapons
3) Go to their headquarters
4) Lots of fun...

Are they "bad guys"?  At least they're up front on what they do.

Yes, it's a pain in the butt, but I see these companies as "market researchers" gone electronic.

Do I like spam?  No; but you have to admit that at least the company explains what they do.

Here's something worth considering. I clicked the link before it hit me that a company specialising in spyware would be more than likely to use it on its own website. ::)

Hahaha, that was the first thought to go through my mind.
So I have yet to check the site... and never will!

lol as soon as I saw it I thought the same thing, and I've gotta agree with Felix on this one.  They're one of the few companies around that tell you what they're doing.  99% of the crap I get I had no idea was coming.
