I think I was in High School, the last time I sat down with a new book and was still gripped 65 pages in!
The Mrs made me put it down,in the end, as I had to get up for work in 3 hours.......
Its a superb account of life in Bomber Command during WWII, especially interesting to anybody who loves the Dambusters film!
Wing Commander Guy Penrose Gibson VC, DSO & Bar, DFC & Bar, writes about his time with Bomber Command, his aircrews, and covers in some detail the nightly tasks of the bombers as they strive to locate their targets over enemy held territory.
He gives as full an account as was possible under the heavy censorship of the period of Operation Chastise, otherwise known as the Dams Raids in which he led his squadron and ultimately won the VC.
For an Avro Lancaster fan like me, its heaven!
