On the subject of memories

Not sure where to post this so here goes. I've been helping an old mate move house. We were dumping some stuff out of the attic & he showed me a big box of the RAF Flying Review dating back to the late 1950s. He asked if I wanted them - as if I needed more junk but I could hardly refuse. . ::)

Here's the first one I picked out of the box. September 1959 when I was sweet 16. Ahhhh the memories. 8) ;)

I collected the Flying Review from the first issue until they stopped printing it. Unfortunately my Mum got fed up & dumped the lot. I now have plenty of reading to catch up on. LOL

What a fantastic find. I have a huge collection of airshow programs and aircraft magazines and would hate to have them chucked out.

Unfortunately I've lost a lot of valued possessions like these over the years.

I just discovered that the editors of Flying Review were William Green, Francis K. Mason & Gordon Swanborough. These are all respected authorities on aviation. I've already found some fantastic 3-views, cutaway drawings & colour profiles. Ideal for the modeller. I wonder why it disappeared? Also, what would be the position regarding copyright if I scanned & posted some of this stuff? I suppose some publisher must still own the rights.

As you find them, post what 3-views, etc, you find.  Someone might be interested... :)

Doug, best to make a list of whats available and get people to contact you.
I have to say that you must have had a horseshoe in your pocket or something! Those magazines must be worthy a pretty penny these days.
As for copyright try looking up the publisher on the net ;)

Damn lucky find!!!! Good for you! What you now have is a nice collection and like Ozzy has stated worth a pretty penny! :)
I have seen some similar on Ebay go for more than a "pretty  penny" ! A few I tried to win but stopped bidding at $60.

Any with a DC3/C47????
If so I might be interested ;)

It's quite possible. I'll look when I get the time.

I'm not too bothered about the market value. Some are a tad scruffy but they're priceless as far as I'm concerned & I wouldn't consider selling them. I never had much luck selling stuff & my home is full of all sorts of useless junk. I will never make a salesman. LOL
