Something Strange going on...

A few minutes ago an Apache attack helicopter just flew over my house really low and last week a group of seven F-16's in a V formation flew over also really low and a month ago at my uncles house in Detroit, while he  flying his helicopter a small group of UH-60 Blackhawks were flying around. And there are no bases  near my house or county or any airshows, and I feel like their stalking me!

Unnerving ain't it. The police helo has a nasty habit of hovering over my house, usually after midnight at that. >:(

The most unsettling thing is being spied on by an airship. They can sit there for hours silently watching everything you do. Now that is a weird experience. ::)

Yes, you never see those damn things during the day but whenever I'm on the early shift it turns up during the early hours and hovers over my house!

I see lots of Army helecopters flying over my house including the odd WAH-64 but it's been vintage light aircraft and two Spitfires this weekend ;D

Seakings, Merlins and Hawks. Flying over head all day at all hours.

It's what you get for living near RNAS Culdrose... :P

Awww...  Poor baby...  :)  I wish I had your troubles where Spitfires were flying over my house keeping me awake.  For me, it's just plane (no pun intended) run-of-the-mill 747's, 737's, and the occasional A340 thrown in.  Wanna trade?  ;D

Don't moan chaps, all I ever see are twos!
An-2s and Mi-2s :(
Actually the police Mi-2 often lands about 100m from my flat as they often do medi-vac stuff from the hospital up the road and land in the big sports hall car park ;D

A lot of times the military will choose a small non-military airport and the area around it to practice at. More so since 9/11/01, the military's flying forces decided that it would be a good idea to practice at airports not used to seeing the aircraft. It gives the pilots practice and the ATC guys practice on handling non-civilian air operations.

Loomex is right. A couple years ago, a group of Marines came up to our local airport and set up a small mini-base for UAVs for about a month and a half. The reason they picked Northern Idaho is because I guess the terrain here is similar to the terrain in Afghanistan. They mostly flew at night and didn't interfere much with local civilian operations. Their CO was very friendly and showed me the UAVs, along with their night vision/infared cameras, and some of their other equipment. They couldn't share some of the details, nor could they show anyone their controll room for security reasons, but it was still very interesting
